Almaty
Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan, located in the southeast of the country at the foot of the Zailiyskiy Alatau. Its history dates back to when it was the Zailiyskoje fort. The city served as the first capital of independent Kazakhstan from 1991 to 1997.
