Salvador
Salvador, in eastern Brazil on the Atlantic Ocean, is a city with a rich history and culture. Known as São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos, it was the capital of the Portuguese colony until 1763. Today it is a popular tourist destination, drawing visitors with its Baroque monuments. The city is divided into two parts, upper and lower, linked by the Lacerda Elevator and a funicular. Its tropical climate makes it rewarding all year round, though the best period is from December to March, with temperatures of around 25-30°C.
