Brindisi
Brindisi, a port city in the Apulia region of southern Italy, lies on the Adriatic. Its name comes from a Messapian word meaning stag's head, a reference to the shape of its harbour. Even in antiquity it was an important centre of trade and metalworking. Today it is a key hub for the chemical and energy industries. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters (around 9.5 °C) and hot summers (around 25 °C). The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when rainfall is at its lowest.
