Oviedo
Oviedo, the historic capital of Asturias, is located in northern Spain, nestled between the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabrian Mountains. Founded in 761, the city is renowned for its Gothic San Salvador Cathedral and numerous pre-Romanesque monuments, such as the churches of Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo. It is also an industrial hub with a developed metallurgy and machinery production. The temperate climate makes spring and summer ideal for visits. Oviedo is the birthplace of Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso.
