Drážďany
Dresden, the capital of Saxony, set on the Elbe in eastern Germany, is an important cultural and economic centre. It is home to more than a million people. Known as the Florence of the North, the city delights visitors with its baroque architecture and the celebrated Old Masters Picture Gallery. In Dresden the Zwinger and the Frauenkirche are well worth visiting. A temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers makes it a good destination from spring through to autumn. Dresden is also a major transport and industrial hub.
